Chapter 2: StalemateDr. Jonathan Henry awoke in a panic. He shakily sat up and surveyed his surroundings. He appeared to be in a once lavishly decorated apartment. That was no longer the case. The room was in shambles. An elaborate wooden table before him was sliced neatly in half, and singed. Shards of pottery and splinters of wood littered the floor. The couch he was laying upon was, miraculously, the only intact thing present. Getting shakily to his feet, he carefully picked his way among the rubble towards the door.
